What To Know About Zara Phillips Clothing

By Jaclyn Hurley

Zara Anne Elizabeth Phillips, better known as Zara Phillips, is a British equestrian. This is the title given to individuals who ride or perform on horseback, and in the case of Phillips, she followed the footsteps of her parents when she took up riding. Phillips is also the second oldest grandchild of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, and currently fifteenth in the line of succession. In 2009, she became involved in fashion. More specifically, a Zara Phillips clothing line.

Around 2009, it was officially announced that she would have her own equestrian line with Musto Outdoor Clothing company. This line is named ZP176, after the team number that she had received in her first competition representing her country. The line officially launched during the summer of 2010.

The collection features a number of products including t-shirts, trousers, tops, hoodies and sweatshirts, jackets and coats, headwear and caps, gilets, breeches and jodhpurs, base layer and other accessories. The items feature a sport look and incorporate technical fabrics that are designed to keep riders protected out and in the saddle.

People can shop the products on the official Musto site. There they can narrow the selection and shop by color, activity, product type, technology and outerwear type. While the items are designed with equestrians kept in mind, the accessories and clothing may be used by non equestrians as well. Prices will range based on many factors.

Phillips has said that she tried and tested everything in the collection. Most of her involvement was about tweaking little things here and there to make the items more practical for wearers. She says her line is in no way about mainstream fashion but is about engineering goods that work well for training and are not bad to look at.

In terms of function, some of the materials incorporated into the designs are used to allow the pieces to be windproof, breathable, fast drying, showerproof, breathable and water resistant. Furthermore, there are items made specifically for stables and event, competitions, and saddle activities. There are many technologies employed in manufacturing of the products, including: Primaloft, DWR, Primaloft Synergy, Coolmax and SPF.

It took two years for this range to come to fruition. While it is meant to be functional, all the pieces are still classy and have a sportswear look. They may be ideal for riders who want to look nice while they are training or competing, but not at the loss of overall functionality. Phillips has plenty of experience with riding, which she has used to help her design efficient goods that work best for athletes of her sport.

Most products are available in reds, blues, grays, blacks and whites. The goods include Musto classics, such as Grooms Gilet and Snug Chaps with color, fit and design updates. Sizing for most products is x small-xxx large and 8-18. Sizes that are available will vary. Technology, reviews and features of each of the pieces is included on the site as well. Availability may differ, but many of the goods can be purchased from the official Musto site. There might be other sellers of new or gently used LP176 items around the web.
