Why Companies Prefer Doing On Site Drug Testing

It has been observed that many organizations have started to make the use of on site drug testing. This type of testing is done before offering an employment contract just to make sure that the specific person they want to offer the job is free from any sort of drug or alcohol abuse. This test is essential in the sense that, once job is offered the employer can't do much about drug abuse problem and has to bear the extra costs at the same time.

With the help of on site testing, the employer is given the opportunity to separate applicants with positive test results from the other candidates. It also enables the employer to create a healthy, safe and drug free environment for his workers which would ultimately benefit the productivity of the company. On the other hand, if the company hires someones and later his test results turnout to be positive, it becomes the company's responsibility to provide efficient after care and counselling to such person so that he is able to get rid of his abusive habit.

It is a certainty that drug ill-use can expedite intense issues among the representatives. The rate of truants builds, level of productivity, decreases and managers need to face the issues of state of mind issues. The level of wrongdoing, robbery and roughness can get uncontrollable if organizations don't put a suitable weigh in this respects.

The use of on site drug test enables the company to built a positive and healthy atmosphere for the workers. There are many organizations that have started to do random tests during the course of employment and it is regarded as an effective way to keep people away from their bad habits during their work. It is a fact that abuse of drugs can lead to harmful effects on individual as well as the organization.

A sense of positive relationship with employee can be created in this manner because he is given a sense of security that the employer is giving regards to his personal problems. Moreover, the company's cost is saved with the help of enhancement in productivity level which in return gives a competitive edge to the company.

Mainly, there are two sorts of tests, the five panel and the other one is ten panel. The five panel test is utilized to discover hints of Cocaine, PCP, Marijuana, Amphetamine and Opiates. While the ten panel test is utilized for the detection of Methadone, Benzodiazepines, Propoxyphene, Barbiturates and Methaqualone.

The commonly used method of detection is breathalyzer, it enables to identify the traces of drugs consumed within the time period of 2 to 4 days. Whereas those workers who use drugs on a regular basis, their body system would reveal positive results for approximately 14 days. Urine test and hair test are other commonly used methods.

It is an employer's responsibility to provide full care and support to an individual who is identified with positive test results. The organization must take important steps to make sure full support is given and such problem is tackled effectively.
